- Competition: Friendlies
- Date: 26th March 2026
- Kick-off: 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
- Venue: Gillette Stadium
Brazil and France meet in the USA on Thursday night, and even for a friendly, it does not quite feel relaxed. There is simply too much quality on the pitch. Gillette Stadium hosts Les Bleus for the first time, while the Seleção have passed through before, which might count for something, even if only slightly.
You get the sense this is less about results now. Both sides already know their World Cup groups. Instead, it is about rhythm, small adjustments, and selection calls. A coach might try something risky here, just to see how it holds up.

These two have met four times since 2006, which is not a lot, but the balance is interesting. Each side has won twice. France edged the only competitive meeting, that 1-0 win at the 2006 World Cup. Friendlies since then have been more open, with an average of just over two goals per game.
Brazil team overview
The Seleção did enough in qualifying, finishing fifth in CONMEBOL. That sounds a bit flat at first, until you remember how tight that table usually gets. Still, the 1-0 loss to Bolivia lingered. Not disastrous, no, but it did raise questions about consistency.
Ancelotti’s side have also felt slightly uneven in friendlies. There have been strong wins, like those against South Korea and Senegal, where the attack clicked easily. However, the 3–2 defeat to Japan showed familiar defensive cracks. You can almost picture Brazil controlling a match, then suddenly losing grip.
The squad, too, looks a little patched. Injuries have ruled out Gabriel Magalhães and Alisson Becker, while Neymar and Rodrygo are absent. Even so, Vinicius Junior and Raphinha still carry real threat.

France team overview
The Blues come into this one looking a bit more settled, and you can see it in the results. Deschamps’ side moved through World Cup qualifying unbeaten, which sounds routine until you consider how rarely that actually happens. The opposition was not elite, fair enough, but the attacking consistency stands out. Scoring at least twice in nine straight games is not accidental.
Wins over Ukraine and Azerbaijan, 4-0 and 3-1, reinforce that idea. France tend to create chances in clusters, sometimes overwhelming teams in short bursts. However, this is still a friendly. Tempo can drop, especially with rotation likely.
Mbappé returns, which shifts the mood instantly. Without Griezmann and Giroud, the attack feels quicker, maybe sharper, though perhaps a bit less reliable when space closes.

Prediction
A 2–2 draw feels about right when you weigh everything up. France have scored at least twice in nine straight matches, which is hard to ignore. The Seleção, however, rarely stay quiet for long and have scored in four of their last five. Defensively, both sides have shown cracks. It points toward goals at both ends rather than control.
Three reasons we expect over 2.5 goals
- All the last five games of France produced three or more goals.
- Brazil kept a clean sheet in only two of their last five matches.
- Each of the last two meetings between France and Brazil produced over 2.5 goals.
