Premier League
Last year, Brentford won both h2h games (2:1 and 3:2). Looking further back, we could see that the Bees were a lot better in their h2h matchups, winning five out of the last seven, while two games ended as draws. The last time Bournemouth won was back in 2021 when both teams competed in the Championship.
Regarding the number of goals, lately, these teams have played high-scoring games, as the last four ended with three or more goals. Additionally, both teams scored in all of those previous four h2h matches.
Bournemouth team overview
Bournemouth have constantly improved their results since their return to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season. The Cherries finished 15th, 12th, and eventually ninth in the last season. This year, Cherries opened the season with a 4:2 road loss to the champs, Liverpool, and then won 1:0 against Wolves in the second round. Even though it is still early, the Cherries can undoubtedly be satisfied with how they opened the current season.
For the upcoming game in the EFL Cup, the Cherries will only have two absences - Enes Unal and Lewis Cook. Both players are out with their long-term injuries.

Brentford team overview
Brentford arrived in the Premier League one year before Bournemouth, in the 2021/22 season, and instantly became a stable mid-table team. Last year, they finished 10th with 56 points in 38 rounds - much closer to European spots than the relegation ones.
Similar to their opponent in the EFL Cup, Brentford also opened the season with one loss and one win in the first two rounds of the Premier League.
Right now, the main question for the Bees is whether Yane Wissa will leave the club or not. The 28-year-old missed the first two games and was close to joining Newcastle, but reportedly the Bees rejected the offer of £40 million. Even though the striker was at the training ground with Brentford, we believe he will remain sidelined for the Cup match.

Prediction
In the first two rounds, Bournemouth scored two goals vs Liverpool and one against Wolves. The Cherries did very well offensively in both games and it seems that scoring at least a goal isn't a problem for the Cherries, especially at their pitch.
Meanwhile, Brentford haven't looked as good in the first two matches vs Nottingham and Aston Villa, but still managed to score in both matches. Both Villa and Nottingham should be at least on Bournemouth's level defensively. Therefore, there is no reason to believe they would not score vs the Cherries.
Also, the last four h2h games ended with both teams scoring. Considering the trend in the previous h2h games and all the above, we expect another exciting match with both teams scoring.
3 Reasons why we should see both teams scoring
- Bournemouth scored three goals in the first two games
- Brentford scored in both games this season
- The last four h2h games ended with both teams scoring

Both Teams to Score
