Borussia Dortmund comes into Tuesday's DFB Pokal contest with plenty of confidence after a well-deserved 2:1 Bundesliga win against Leverkusen on Saturday. Goals from Aarón Anselmino and Karim Adeyemi secured a vital away victory for BVB.

Niko Kovač's side have enjoyed an improved run of form in recent weeks, with six wins and just one defeat in nine previous fixtures. Dortmund's only reversal in that period was a 4:1 Champions League defeat against an on-song Manchester City last month. 

Goals can usually be expected when Dortmund and Leverkusen meet-up. A minimum of three goals were scored in 12 of their last 16 meetings, including each of the last three. Four of Dortmund's five most recent games also finished with over 2.5 goals scored.

Indeed, only two of seven previous meetings between these sides did not see both on the scoresheet, and a similar outcome is anticipated on Tuesday.

Head coach Kovač has a couple of injury issues this week. Niklas Süle misses out while Maximilian Beier is doubtful and will require a late fitness test.

Leverkusen make the trip to Dortmund looking to bounce back from Saturday's Bundesliga defeat at the BayArena. Christian Kofane's late goal proved consolation only as Kasper Hjulmand's side slipped to a second home defeat of the season. 

Bayer had been in good form before their setback on Saturday, picking up wins in five of their last six games, including an impressive 2:0 win against a much-changed Man City side last week. 

Impressive on the road, Leverkusen are likely to at least get on the scoresheet at Signal Iduna Park. Bayer have seen BTTS in four of their last five away matches against Dortmund.

Leverkusen boss Hjulmand has some injury issues to deal with this week. Exequiel Palacios, Lucas Vázquez and Axel Tape remain sidelined while Arthur could also miss out.
