Bologna vs Genoa prediction 20.09.2025 | Serie A

Bologna had an amazing season 2023/24 under Thiago Motta, where they finished fifth and eventually secured Champions League. Last year, they weren't as good in the Serie A, but managed to secure the Coppa Italia title - their first major trophy since the 1998/99 season when they won the Intertoto Cup. 

This year, "I Rossoblù" won just three points in the first three rounds and definitely did not start the season as they expected. Still, their only win of the season came at home, and they will desperately try to continue winning points at home. 

After a 1:0 loss to AC Milan, coach Vincenzo Italiano spoke to the media. He said they need to get better and focus on integrating the new players into the team. When asked about their offensive struggles thus far, he said they are not creating enough opportunities, but also said that a tough schedule is also a part of the problem.

Genoa secured a return to the Italian top-flight division in 2022/23 and had two decent following seasons as they finished 11th and 13th. This year, they opened the season with a win over Vicenza in the Cup (3:0), and then won just two points in the following three Serie A games. However, just like Bologna, they had a pretty tough schedule, and that might be the reason for their slow start.

After a 1:1 draw with Como, coach Patrick Viera spoke to the media. He was satisfied with a draw, especially since the equalizer came in the stoppage time (92nd minute). The coach noted they undoubtedly deserved that point and expressed faith in his current roster.
