Birmingham City

Birmingham team overview

After last season in League One, for Birmingham, it was most important to stabilize in the Championship. With ten league matches left, they are mid-table with some chances to sneak into the promotion playoff zone. However, Birmingham's form isn't particularly encouraging, as they have lost their last three games. In the most recent outing, Chris Davies' team lost 1-0 on the road against Charlton. The teams were fairly even, and maybe splitting points was the fairest outcome, but the hosts' better efficiency was enough to leave the visitors empty-handed.

Birmingham's head coach, Chris Davies, was dissatisfied after a defeat over the weekend. He said, "It was very disappointing. It was a game of very few chances; there was nothing really in the first half, and I was comfortable enough with how we were playing away from home in that first bit. Second half, I thought we picked up some good momentum, we looked like the team that was on the front foot, got into some good areas. It was just decision-making, that last pass, last cross, last finish, just wasn't there. And then a suck punch, really, conceding from a long throw, and we have to do better."

Lee Buchanan and Alexander Cochrane are injured and will not play on Wednesday night. Also, Kyogo Furuhashi, James Beadle, and August Priske are questionable.

QPR team overview

The 2025/26 season could be the fourth in a row for QPR as a lower-half team in the Championship. However, the most important thing for the Hoops is that they remain at a safe distance from the drop zone. Like Birmingham, QPR are also terrible lately, with three defeats in a row and a 0:11 goal difference. In the previous game, they lost 4-0 at home against Middlesbrough. The hosts were terrible for most of the match and will need to do much better if they want to end the losing streak.

After a heavy defeat to Middlesbrough, QPR's manager, Julien Stephan, was realistic. He commented, "They are better than us. This is a reality. They deserve their win. More quality individually, collectively, more quality with the ball, more quality without the ball."

QPR have problems with missing players, too. They will be without Justin Obikwu, Ziyad Larkeche, Karamoko Dembele, Ilias Chair, and Rumarn Burrell. Also, Nicolas Madsen is questionable for the trip to Birmingham.

Prediction

Both teams are terrible offensively lately. Birmingham scored one goal in the last three matches, while QPR are goalless in the same period. With both teams struggling, we will unlikely see more than two goals in the upcoming clash.

3 Reasons why we shouldn't expect more than two goals in this match

  1. Birmingham scored only one goal in the last three matches
  2. QPR are goalless in the previous three games
  3. QPR scored three goals in the last five road matches
