Augsburg are playing their 15th consecutive season in the Bundesliga, where they have mostly been in the middle or lower part of the table. This year, they had problems for most of the season, and it looked like they could get involved in a relegation battle. However, after a coaching change, they had a great month-and-a-half from mid-January to March, during which they climbed significantly. Now, they went on a bad streak again but are in 11th place with 32 points from 28 rounds - seven points away from the relegation play-off. Still, with only six rounds to go, no one really thinks they are in danger anymore. 

Central defender Keven Schlotterbeck will be unavailable for the upcoming game due to the accumulation of yellow cards. The 28-year-old has probably been Augsburg's best player this season, and his absence will be a massive factor. 

Kristijan Jakic, who missed the previous game with a knock, should be available, while Chrislain Matsima and Yannik Keitel should remain sidelined with their injuries. 

Hoffenheim bounced back this year after an atrocious last one when they finished 15th. This season, the team from Sinsheim is doing a great job and was firmly in the Champions League spots before the last two losses. However, now they dropped to 5th and are only three points behind 3rd and 4th place. However, reaching the Champions League will definitely be a challenge given their pretty tough schedule in the remaining six games.

Defensive midfielder Wouter Burger received his fifth yellow card in the previous game and will serve his one-game suspension against Augsburg. Wouter started in 89% of Bundesliga games, having scored four goals and assisted on eight. Regarding injuries, the team should have no new ones, but Valentin Gendrey, Adam Hlozek, and Koki Machida should remain sidelined with theirs.
