Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad prediction 07.03.2026 | La Liga

Atletico Madrid are again around their usual place in La Liga, currently sitting in 3rd place with 51 points, a comfortable eight points dropping out of the top four. However, the 1st-placed Barcelona are 13 points away, and we can safely say they aren't in the title race. Their best chance of winning the trophy will be in the Cup, where they will face Real Sociedad in the final. 

Besides their good La Liga and Cup campaigns, Colchoneros are doing more than OK in the Champions League, where they will face Tottenham in the 1/8 Finals. Since the Spurs have struggled this season, the Colchoneros have a really good chance of reaching the top 8 in the CL. After the Real Sociedad game, they will have a first leg against Tottenham in Spain. It will be interesting to see just how well Colchoneros can handle playing this many matches and whether they will rest some of their players in the upcoming match.

In the 3:0 loss against Barcelona, Giuliano Simeone had to leave the field with an injury and will probably miss the Sociedad game. Meanwhile, Pablo Barrios is questionable due to a muscle injury. 

After a pretty bad last season, Real Sociedad continued with poor performances at the start of the current one. However, as the season progressed, they only looked better. That was especially true since they appointed Matarazzo as the new head coach. Under the American coach, the Basque team really impressed and deservedly found their spot in the Copa del Rey Finals. 

Meanwhile, in La Liga, the Basque team are in 8th place with 35 points. At the moment, they are only one point away from European spots, and looking at their remaining schedule, we are convinced they are more than capable of moving up one or two spots. 

For the upcoming game, they should have no new injuries, but Alvaro Odriozola and Takefusa Kubo should remain sidelined.
