Girona returned to reality after an amazing 2023/24 campaign, when fans hoped they could maybe surprise the biggest clubs in Spain and win the title. Unfortunately for their fans, the previous year was a disaster as the Catalan team barely secured survival, finishing just one point away from relegation. And this year, at least from what we saw from them, the White and Reds will once again battle to survive. After the first five rounds, they won just one point and looked like the worst team in La Liga. Even the coach, Michel, said in one of his recent interviews that they are not the team they were two seasons ago and that their goal is to stay up.
In the previous game against Levante, two players received red cards - Axel Witsel and Vitor Reis, and they will be suspended for the upcoming game. Besides them, players who missed the previous games with injuries should remain sidelined - Viktor Tsygankov, David Lopez, and Thomas Lemar.

Athletic Bilbao have been in terrible form, losing four straight. Four if we count the friendly against Osasuna during the international break. They even failed to score in those four matches, and it is hard to expect an offensive performance that is too different against Girona. Also, last season, Bilbao were the best defensive team in the league, and we expect them to finally step up in that department because they are undoubtedly capable of keeping clean sheets against teams like Girona.
Like Athletic Bilbao, Girona are also in bad form. To be fair, they have struggled from the start of the season and managed to score just two goals - a mere 0.4 per game.
