Aston Villa vs West Ham prediction 22.03.2026 | Premier League

Aston Villa comes into Sunday's EPL contest after securing a comfortable victory against Lille in the Europa League on Thursday. 

Having once threatened an unlikely title push, the Villans have since endured a dismal run of results, losing four of their last five domestic matches. Over a broader stretch, Unai Emery’s side have failed to win eight of their previous ten Premier League fixtures.

While in poor form, the hosts have been a solid choice for goal chasers in domestic fixtures this season. Five of their last seven games - excluding European fixtures - finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Head coach Emery has three confirmed absentees this weekend. Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara and Alysson are ruled out for this fixture.

West Ham make the trip to Villa Park after boosting their relegation survival chances with a well-deserved 1:1 draw against Manchester City last weekend. Konstantinos Mavropanos was the unlikely goalscorer as the Hammers put a serious dent in the Citizens fading EPL title chances.

Having looked near-certs for relegation at the start of the year, West Ham have enjoyed a much-improved run of form under Portuguese boss Nuno Espirito Santo. The Hammers are unbeaten in nine of their last 11 games, while they claimed victories in three of their last five away EPL fixtures. 

Goals at both ends seem likely this weekend, with recent form and past encounters suggesting a strong likelihood of BTTS landing. West Ham have seen both teams to score in seven of their last ten EPL matches, and in all but one of their last 13 games against Aston Villa.

Head coach Santo has only two expected absentees for the trip to Villa Park. Łukasz Fabiański  and Crysencio Summerville remain sidelined with injury issues.
