Angers vs Lyon prediction 05.04.2026 | Ligue 1

After successfully avoiding relegation last season, that remained the only real goal for Angers in the current campaign. With ten points more than the drop zone, the team from Stade Raymond-Kopa probably needs one or two more wins to relax completely. However, Angers' form is far from encouraging, as they lost five of the last six matches. In the previous game, they lost 5-1 on the road against Lens. Angers had terrible defense in that match, and their fans can only hope that it was a focus during the international break. 

Angers are playing well under Alexandre Dujeux. However, they could lose their head coach this summer as OGC Nice are very interested. Dujeux has a contract until 2028, but he could leave Angers for a bigger challenge. 

Angers have some problems with missing players. They will be without Melvin Zinga, Prosper Peter, Jacques Ekomie, and Carlens Arcus on Sunday afternoon. Also, Lanroy Machine is questionable. 

For so long, Lyon looked like the team that could secure a return to the Champions League. However, after a recent slump, Lille and Monaco have closed the gap, and the race is now completely open. Lyon are without a victory in the last eight matches across all competitions. In the most recent outing, they lost 2-1 at home against Monaco. Although Lyon created a very good xG of 1.51, they allowed 3.29 to the guests and deservedly remained empty-handed. The head coach Paulo Fonseca and his players have done so many this season, but if they don't improve on defense, Lyon will hardly remain in their current position.

Lyon's head coach, Paulo Fonseca, is optimistic that his team will finish among the best four teams in Ligue 1. Ahead of the game against Angers, he said, "The first match of the final sprint, which we're approaching in a good position in the top four, the position we want to maintain at the end of the season."

Malick Fofana, Remi Himbert, Noham Kamara, Ruben Kluivert, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Ernest Nuamah, and Nicolas Tagliafico are unavailable for the trip to Angers.
