- Competition: Belgian Cup
- Date: 5th February 2026
- Kick-off: 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
- Venue: Lotto Park
Thursday night has that familiar cup tension. Anderlecht and Royal Antwerp meet in the first leg of the Belgian Cup semi-finals, and it feels finely balanced despite what the table says. Les Mauves et Blancs sit fourth, Antwerp ninth. On paper, the hosts have the edge. However, Joseph Oosting’s side arrive in Brussels fresh from a sharp 4-0 win over Cercle Brugge, and that sort of result tends to travel well.

Belgian Cup
These sides have crossed paths ten times since 2024. Anderlecht have generally had the upper hand, winning five. Antwerp have only taken one, while four ended level. Goals come, but not in floods. An average of 2.30 per game hints at matches that stay competitive rather than chaotic.
Anderlecht team overview
Back in November, Anderlecht looked like proper title contenders. After 16 games, Edward Still’s side were third, just five points off the top.
Fast forward to February and the picture feels less convincing. Thirteen points now separate Les Mauves et Blancs from first place, and there has been just one win in the last seven matches.
The recent 2-0 loss to Standard followed a dull goalless draw with Dender, so confidence is not exactly overflowing. Still, home form keeps hope alive. Eight wins and seven clean sheets from the last ten at Lotto Park is no small thing.
Nilson Angulo is available despite sealing a £17.5m move to Sunderland on deadline day. His expected absence could push Mihajlo Cvetković into a starting role alongside Danylo Sikan and Nathan De Cat.
Thorgan Hazard remains key from midfield, already on six goals and four assists. César Huerta, Mario Stroeykens and Ludwig Augustinsson are sidelined.

Royal Antwerp team overview
Antwerp may sit below Anderlecht, but recent form tells a different story. The Great Old have lost just two of their last ten matches in all competitions, winning six of the others.
Those defeats, against Dender and Charleroi last month, now feel like a blip. Since then, Oosting’s side have responded with back-to-back wins, scoring six and conceding none.
Away from home, Antwerp have been reliable too. Three wins from the last four trips, plus avoiding defeat in their last two visits to Lotto Park, suggests comfort in this setting.
Kiki Kouyaté is ruled out after limping off early against Cercle Brugge. Anthony Valencia is the likely replacement after an impressive cameo, and Oosting seems otherwise content to stick with a settled XI.

Prediction
This first leg feels set up for caution rather than chaos. Anderlecht have failed to score in their last two matches, while Antwerp arrive disciplined and confident after back-to-back clean-sheet wins. Recent meetings between these sides rarely run away on the scoreboard. With Antwerp comfortable soaking pressure away from home, a tight 0-0 draw looks a very realistic outcome.
Three reasons we expect Antwerp to win or draw this game
- Antwerp have lost just two of their last ten matches.
- Anderlecht have won just one of their last seven games across all competitions.
- Antwerp avoided defeat in each of their last two visits to Anderlecht.
Main prediction -
