Over the previous three seasons, Al Taawoun consistently finished between fourth and eighth but failed to qualify for continental competition. This season, they are on the right path to change that, considering they are in fifth place with 35 points after the first 16 rounds. Right now, they are only two points behind second place, and with a potential win, they could move into second place, depending on the other results. 

After a 2:2 draw vs Al Hazem, coach Péricles Chamusca spoke to the media. He was happy with the team effort and spirit despite failing to win all three points. "Our goal was to win and continue at the top of the table, but due to injuries and circumstances, we couldn't get the three points - though the team still played well," the coach added.
