VFB Stuttgart turn their attention to European competition on Thursday when they take on Swiss visitors Young Boys.

The hosts come into this fixture with plenty of reasons to be confident after a dominant Bundesliga win against Monchenglandbach while Young Boys make the trip to Germany in low spirits after another defeat suffered in the Swiss Super League last weekend.

Stuttgart scored a commanding win when these sides last met, and given recent form, a similar outcome seems likely this week.

Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart team overview

VFB Stuttgart face their final Europa League, league phase fixture in high spirits after a commanding 3:0 win against Monchengladbach. Deniz Undav continued his fine goal-scoring form with a late goal adding gloss to a fine road victory.

The Bundesliga side have been in solid form in the past couple of months, securing six victories while losing just one of their last nine games across all competitions.

Particularly strong in home fixtures, the Germans won all three of their Europa League games at MHP Arena this season. Impressively, VFB ALSO won by more than one goal in six of their last seven victories.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has four confirmed absentees this week. Tiago Tomás, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Luca Jaquez and Lazar Jovanović are all ruled out.

Young Boys

BSC Young Boys team overview

BSC Young Boys make the trip to Germany in poor form after another disappointing performance in their Swiss Super League fixture at Thun last weekend. Gerardo Seoane´s side slipped to a painful 4-1 defeat at Stockhorn Arena.

A disastrous run of form has seen BSC lose each of their last seven matches across all competitions. The Swiss side have been defensively vulnerable, conceding 22 goals in those seven losses.

Despite their dismal form, Young Boys remain on course to qualify for the Europa League playoffs. Seoane´s men sit 23rd in the competition with nine points picked up from seven games completed.

Head coach Seoane has a handful of absentees this week. Ebrima Colley, Ryan Andrews, Facinet Conte and Jaouen Hadjam are ruled out, while Rayan Raveloson is suspended.
