RB Leipzig vs Freiburg prediction 14.01.2026 | Bundesliga

RB Leipzig come into Wednesday's Bundesliga contest after a three-week break following the postponement of last week's scheduled matchup against St. Pauli.

Ole Werner's side finished 2025 in disappointing form with back-to-back 3:1 defeats against Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen. Despite those results, RB remain third in the Bundesliga, four points behind second-placed Dortmund.

Strong at Red Bull Arena, RB picked up six successive Bundesliga's home victories before their defeat against Leverkusen last month. 

A high-scoring outcome can usually be relied upon when Leipzig are involved. RB have seen over 2.5 goals in ten of their last 12 matches and in five of their seven most recent games against Freiburg. 

Head coach Werner has a handful of injury issues this week. Benjamin Henrichs, Joyeux Masanka Bungi and Viggo Gebel are ruled out, while Johan Bakayoko and Lukas Klostermann are both listed as doubtful.

Freiburg makes the trip to Red Bull Arena in high spirits after a fine comeback win against HSV last weekend. Igor Matanović's late goal secured the points for the Breisgau-Brasilianer.

Julian Schuster's men have enjoyed a decent run of form in the past couple of months with five wins and two draws recorded in their last eight fixtures. Freiburg now sit eighth in the division, six points behind RB. 

On the road, Freiburg have struggled, though. The Breisgau-Brasilianer lost three of their last five away matches, while they have won just two of eight Bundesliga away matches this year. 

Head coach Schuster is set to stick with the same side that edged past HSV last weekend. Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is the only expected injury absentee for the visitors.
