- Date: Thursday, 21st August, 2025
- Kickoff: 18:00 UK / 19:00 CEST
- Venue: Eleda Stadion (Malmö)
The European Qualifiers are slowly coming to an end. We will focus on the duel between Malmö and Sigma Olomouc in the Europa League Playoff Round. The first leg will take place at Eleda Stadion in Malmö. The Swedes are trying to secure the main phase (group phase) in Europe in back-to-back seasons, while Sigma Olomouc are striving to achieve its first-ever main phase of any European competition. However, by reaching the EL Playoff Round, they secured at least a Conference League, and these qualifiers have to be considered a success regardless of the result.
According to bookies, the Swedes are a big favorite before the first leg. The odds of Malmö winning the duel are around 1.35, while the odds of Sigma Olomouc are 3.0.
Malmo team overview
Malmö, a 24-time Swedish winner, had an outstanding last season, winning the double. However, this season, their odds aren't looking great in the league, considering they are in third place with 11 points behind the first-placed Mjallby. In the Champions League Qualifiers, the Swedes eliminated Iberia 1999 and RFS but got humbled by the Danish champs, FC Copenhagen, losing 5:0 on aggregate.
After a massive 5:0 loss to FC Copenhagen, many football pundits criticized coach Rydström. Some of them questioned whether Rydström is the right man for the job. Still, according to credible sources, Malmö's CEO Niclas Carlnen said that the confidence in their coach is unchanged. Yet, we believe the outcome of the Sigma duel could be crucial to whether the coach will remain at the club.

Sigma Olomouc team overview
Sigma Olomouc haven't been among the very best teams in the Czech Republic in recent seasons. Last year, they finished last in the Championship Group (6th), and it was obvious that they are by far the worst team in the group. However, they managed to secure Europe by winning the Cup. By winning the Cup, they secured European Qualifiers for the first time since the 2018/19 season, when Sevilla eliminated them.
This season, the popular "Hanáci" opened the season well, as they are sit in 4th place with 10 points in five rounds and are only three points away from the top spot. After the latest win (1:0 vs Zlin), coach Janotka praised the team but noted Malmö possesses great quality and that they are in for a challenging duel.

Prediction
Malmö had their ups and downs lately, but were fantastic for this type of bet as at least one team failed to score in four out of the last five games across the competitions. In Europe, Malmö kept a clean sheet in two out of three games at home. They failed to keep their net intact against Iberia as they won 3:1 but were close to doing so, allowing a goal in the 93rd minute. So, just with a little luck, they could have three clean sheets in three games.
Sigma Olomouc have been great for this bet thus far. At least one team failed to score in four out of five matches. They have also struggled offensively this season, scoring just four goals in five matches - 0.8 per game.
Considering the trend of both teams along with all the above, we firmly believe that a BTTS - NO bet is the safest option for this tie.
3 Reasons why we should see at least one team failing to score
- At least one team failed in four of the last five Malmö games
- Sigma Olomouc scored one goal in two road games this year
- Malmö kept a clean sheet in two out of three European home games this season
Main prediction Malmo FF - Sigma Olomouc
Both Teams to Score - NO
