Magdeburg came to this season after a magnificent last season, finishing fifth and coming fairly close to promotion spots. That led to changing the coach in early November, and the team eventually started playing better. They even went on a five-game unbeaten run before losing the last game to Dynamo Dresden. Most importantly, they managed to escape the danger zone, but have to keep up winning points since they are just one point away from dropping down again. 

After a 2:1 loss vs Dynamo Dresden, coach Petrik Sander spoke to the media. He criticised the team for a lack of concentration at set-pieces. The coach emphasized the need to stay on their path to improve and to fix their defensive mistakes.

Hannover, once a stable Bundesliga team, last appeared in the German top-flight division in the 2018/19 season. Since dropping to 2. Bundesliga, they have never come close to securing promotion. This season, after some ups and downs, the Reds are fifth with 32 points from 19 matches - just four points away from the promotion playoffs and five points away from direct promotion. 

After a 2:1 win over Düsseldorf and stopping their four-game winless league streak, coach Christian Titz spoke to the media. He said it was an important step for the team to end a bad streak. "I know people like to talk about a turning point when you finally pick up points again. It's good that we got the win, but we have to stay humble and continue working on what makes us strong," the coach added.
