Inter will be aiming to put the nightmare ending of last season behind them as they kick off their 2025/26 Serie A campaign at home against Torino, determined to set the tone early in the title race.
The Nerazzurri enjoyed a perfect pre-season tour in early August, winning all four of their friendly matches and heading into the new campaign in high spirits. Torino, by contrast, managed just one victory from five pre-season friendlies, but nevertheless opened the 2025/26 Italian football season on a positive note with a 1-0 Coppa Italia win over Modena.

Serie A
Inter have been a difficult opponent for Torino in recent years. The Nerazzurri currently boast six consecutive victories in this fixture, both home and away, and have also strung together six straight wins against Torino at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. In fact, it has been more than seven years since Torino last left San Siro with all three points—their most recent success came on April 18, 2018, in a 1-0 win.
Inter team overview
Inter endured a disappointing end to the 2024/25 season, both in Serie A and in Europe. Despite closing the domestic campaign with a 2-0 win over Como on the final matchday, they fell just short of the Scudetto, finishing a single point behind champions Napoli. A week later, their misery deepened as they were thrashed 5-0 by PSG in the UEFA Champions League final, a night where they were outclassed from start to finish.
The biggest news for the Nerazzurri this summer has been a change in leadership. Cristian Chivu took charge in June 2025, succeeding Simone Inzaghi as head coach. His appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for Inter.

Torino team overview
Torino experienced a relatively uneventful 2024/25 Serie A campaign, finishing 11th in the standings—21 points adrift of the European qualification spots. While their overall league position was underwhelming, they did enjoy an impressive home run in 2025, going nine matches unbeaten at the Stadio Olimpico. However, that momentum faded toward the end of the season, as they failed to win any of their final five Serie A fixtures.
The summer also brought change in the dugout. On 1 July 2025, Marco Baroni replaced Paolo Vanoli as Torino’s head coach, ushering in a new chapter for the club.

Prediction
Inter are still likely to carry the bitter aftertaste of last season’s collapse - losing the Serie A title to Napoli on the final day and suffering a humiliating defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League final. Even so, that should matter little heading into Monday’s clash, given the opponent. Torino have struggled badly against Inter over the past six to seven seasons and are winless in their last six meetings. Their most recent victory at San Siro dates back to 2018, which makes it hard to see anything other than another Inter win this time around.
Three reasons we expect Inter to Win
- Inter have won 6 consecutive H2H matches against Torino in recent seasons
- Inter have won 6 consecutive H2H encounters against Torino at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
- Inter have lost only once from the possible 16 home matches in Serie A over the course of last season
Main prediction -
