After winning the Super Cup on August 16th against Stuttgart, the reigning Bundesliga champs, Bayern Munich, will welcome RB Leipzig in the season's opening match.
Before the season kickoff, the bookies see Bayern Munich as the clear-cut favorite to win the title, offering odds around 1.25-1.3 of them doing so, and anything less would be considered a failure. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig are the fourth favorite for the title, with the odds between 13-21 for them to lift their first Bundesliga title. However, their primary goal for the season is to secure a top-four finish and ensure Champions League main phase for the following year.

In the previous season, Bayern Munich dominated in their home h2h game, winning 5:1, while we saw an exciting 3:3 draw at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. Looking further back, in the last ten h2h games, Bayern Munich won five times, while RB Leipzig secured two victories.
When it comes to the number of goals, we have constantly seen high-scoring matches as nine out of ten h2h games ended with three or more goals, and seven of those also went over 3.5 goals line. Additionally, we saw both teams scoring in nine of those ten matches - 90%!
Bayern Munich team overview
Last year, Bayern Munich managed to win the 34th Bundesliga title, leaving the second-placed Bayer Leverkusen 13 points behind. However, their performance in the Cup competitions could have been much better as they failed to make deep runs in both the DFB Pokal and the Champions League.
Over the pre-season, the club wasn't too active, adding just three new players. Still, two of those were massive improvements as they acquired Luis Diaz from Liverpool for 70 million euros and also managed to bring Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen for a mere two million euros. Meanwhile, some of the rotation pieces left the team: Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman, Joao Palhinha, Eric Dier, Leroy Sane, and Thomas Muller, who left the team after two and a half decades (including Bayern's youth teams).

RB Leipzig team overview
RB Leipzig came to this season after the worst one since their arrival in the Bundesliga in the 2016/17 season. Interestingly, we can easily say Stuttgart really ruined Leipzig's season. There are two reasons for it: Stuttgart won against them in the last round of the season, pushing them to seventh place, and then also won the Cup, preventing Leipzig from securing Europe from the seventh seed.
However, even though they will not play in Europe, the club improved the squad, and we expect a lot from them. They added seven players and spent 112 million euros while five players left the team (+ three on a loan deal). One player from the starting eleven who left the team is Benjamin Sesko, who joined Manchester United for 75 million euros.

Prediction
Bayern Munich opened the season with a 2:1 win in the Super Cup over Stuttgart. Their offense, as usual, looked great, and we do not have any doubt they will score against anyone in the World at Alianz Arena. However, there are some concerning signs about their defense as they allowed a lot of chances to Stuttgart, which eventually had more shots on goal and a 1.89 xG.
RB Leipzig opened the season with a 4:2 win over Sandhausen in the Cup. While those four goals against a regional league team aren't too impressive, their offensive performances in the pre-season are. They scored three goals against Santos, seven against Toulouse, and one goal against Lens and Atalanta. Meanwhile, allowing Sanhausen two goals is a major red flag when it comes to defense.
In the last ten h2h games, we saw both teams scoring on nine occasions. Considering the trend in the previous h2h games and all the above, a BTTS - YES bet seems like the best option for this Bundesliga tie.
3 Reasons why we should see both teams scoring
- Bayern Munich opened the season with a 2:1 win over Stuttgart in the Super Cup
- RB Leipzig won 4:2 against Sandhausen in the first game of the season in the DFB Pokal
- Nine of the last ten h2h games ended with both teams scoring
