Anderlecht vs Gent prediction 15.01.2026 | Belgian Cup

Anderlecht, a 34-time Belgian champion, last won the title almost a decade ago, in the 2016/17 season. Since then, they've been mostly around third or fourth place and are there again this season. This season, the Purple & White were in a solid position, but after winning four points in the last four rounds, they dropped to 4th place and are now seven points behind the top spot. They are generally in poor form and need this win to turn the negative momentum around.

In early January, the coach spoke to the media. He was asked about a possible transfer but declined to talk about it, saying he is not involved in player transfers at Anderlecht. The coach also said he is here to work with the players and improve them, not to handle transfers. Interestingly, Anderlecht haven't made any transfers during the January transfer window, even though most football pundits expected them to.

In the previous decade, Gent were consistently in the top seven, qualifying for the European Qualifiers each time until the last season. Last year, they failed to qualify for the European Qualifiers, and everyone expected they would have a good season since they are focused only on domestic competitions. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and as the season progressed, they only looked worse. At the moment, they are in 8th place with 26 points from 20 rounds. Their main issue this season is their terrible road performance, where they average 0.8 points per game less than at home. This game against Anderlecht will undoubtedly be a big challenge for the Buffaloes. 

During the transfer window, the club haven't improved the squad. In fact, one of their key midfielders, Omri Gandelman, left to join Lecce. The 25-year-old midfielder played the fourth-most minutes for Gent and is their top goal-scorer with 8 goals in 20 appearances. His departure will undoubtedly be a massive factor.
