- Date: Monday, 18th August, 2025
- Kickoff: 20:30 UK / 21:30 CEST
- Venue: UD Almería Stadium (Almería)
On Monday evening, the last game of La Liga 2 opening round will take place between Almeria and Albacete at UD Almería Stadium in Almería. For the upcoming season, these teams have different goals. As the hosts aiming to secure promotion, Albacete would probably be satisfied with "only" reaching the playoffs.

La Liga 2
Last year, both teams won their home h2h games (Albacete 2:1 and Almeria 3:1). However, we believe Almeria were better in both games and possibly deserved wins in both games.
Meanwhile, at UD Almería Stadium, Almeria were a lot better, winning six games while two were draws in the past eight h2h games. The last time Albacete was victorious at Almeria's pitch was back in 2006 - almost two decades ago.
When it comes to the number of goals, in the last ten h2h games, we saw fewer than three goals on five occasions (50%).
Almería team overview
Almeria are a team that often travels between La Liga and La Liga 2. The Andalusian team were relegated from the Spanish top-flight division in 2023/24 but finished only sixth in the following year and eventually got eliminated in the first round of the Playoffs.
During the pre-season, the club was active, but we do not think they have gotten any better. The departure of their best player, Luis Suarez, is a big hit for Almeria, considering he scored 31 goals in 43 appearances!

Albacete team overview
Albacete had two pretty similar finishes behind them, securing 13th and 10th place with 51 and 58 points. Last year, they weren't too close to reaching the Playoffs as they were 11 points away from the desired sixth place.
In the offseason, the club made some moves, but nothing drastic, and we believe they are around last year's level. Still, the bookies consider them as one of the teams that could secure the Playoffs. Right now, the bookies see them as the sixth to eighth best teams in the league, with the odds of around 15 to win the title. When it comes to the pre-season, "Queso Mecánico" did very well, winning five out of seven matches.

Prediction
Last year, Almeria were pretty efficient, but losing Luis Suarez undoubtedly hurts, and we believe their offensive performance will take a massive hit. Suarez finished the season as La Liga 2's best goalscorer with 27 goals! In the pre-season, they, expectedly, struggled to score in most games and eventually scored one or zero goals in four out of six matches - 67%.
Meanwhile, Albacete weren't too great offensively last year, especially away from home, where they scored 22 goals in 21 matches, just a little over one goal per game. Mainly because of a pretty poor offense, they went under 2.5 goals in 57% of their La Liga 2 road games (12 out of 21). Also, they were pretty good for this bet in friendly matches, as we saw fewer than three goals in four out of six games (67%).
Considering all the above, we believe that an under 2.5 goals bet seems like the best option for this La Liga 2 tie.
3 Reasons why we should see fewer than three goals
- Almeria lost their best striker and last season's La Liga 2 top goalscorer, Luis Suarez
- Both teams went under 2.5 goals in four of six friendlies
- Last year, Albacete scored just 22 goals in 21 league road games
Main prediction -
Under 2.5 goals
