After performing consistently well throughout last season, Celta Vigo were rewarded with a seventh-place finish, a result that will see them juggle a challenging fixture list this term as they compete in UEFA’s secondary tournament.

The summer was busy for Vigo, who, after selling Jorgen Strand Larsen and Fer Lopez for €50 million, welcomed new additions like Ilaix Moriba, Ferran Jutgla, Borja Iglesias, and brought in Bryan Zaragoza on loan from Bayern Munich.

For the fifth straight season, Getafe have been content with mere survival in LaLiga, like last term when they finished in a respectable 13th position with 42 points, but they will be eager to break the cycle and make a stronger impression in the forthcoming campaign.

However, the team from Madrid’s outskirts struggled to find form in pre-season this summer, leaving few positive signs ahead of the new campaign, with five friendlies yielding no wins, three draws, and two disappointing defeats versus Elche and Lyon.

The numbers speak for themselves: last season, the Azulones were much more effective away from home, securing seven wins out of 19 LaLiga journeys, compared to just four successes at their own ground, underlining the contrast in their performances on the road.

During the summer, the Madrid club lost defensive pillar Omar Alderete, who moved to Premier League newcomers Sunderland, and brought in Abdel Abqar from Alaves on a free transfer as his replacement.
