St. Pauli secured a historic promotion last season and are in survivor mode this year. Throughout the season, they were in or around the danger zone and are now at 15th points from 22 matches - two away from relegation playout and five away from direct relegation. Still, after winning only one point in the last five games, there is a massive reason for concern, and their chances of survival in the Bundesliga don't look great.

Hoffenheim are playing their 17th consecutive season in the Bundesliga, where they were mostly a mid-table team. This season, they weren't impressive, as they sit in 13th place with only 26 points from 25 matches. However, since they were eliminated from the EL, they seem to be a lot better, and we are convinced they will not get too involved in the relegation battle. We believe they are too good to be in the lower part of the league's table.

Hoffenheim, on the other hand, are undefeated in the last four games whille winning two of those four. For some reason, they have been especially impressive away from home, winning four of the previous five in all competitions. Their only loss was against Bayer Leverkusen (3:1), but they were more than OK in that match, and we can give them a pass on that one.
