Bosnia and Herzegovina will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the World Cup qualifiers in Group H when they host San Marino this weekend.

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil remains the only time that Bosnia & Herzegovina have qualified for a major tournament.  Sergej Barbarez’s side finished bottom of League A Group 3 in the Nations League, picking up only two points from six games, and before that they lost 2–1 to Ukraine in the Euro play-offs. But having beaten the likes of Romania and Cyprus in their two World Cup qualifiers so far, the Golden Lilies will be confident of breaking the curse this time around.

San Marino have never qualified for a major tournament, and after two Group H matches, it’s clear that this run will continue. The visitors began their campaign with a 2–0 defeat to Cyprus, then lost 5–1 to Romania on Matchday two. These defeats came as a surprise to many, as Roberto Cevoli’s side had just celebrated their third ever competitive match victory when they beat Liechtenstein 3-1 on the final match day of the Nations League back in November.

Bosnia and Herzegovina vs San Marino Betting Tips: Over 3.5 goals

Both sides have struggled defensively recently, with the hosts keeping only one clean sheet in their last six matches and San Marino conceding in each of their last seven games.

The last two meetings between these two nations, which were all World Cup qualifiers, were entertaining affairs, with each producing three or more goals, and I expect a similar outcome this weekend.

  • Best Tip: Over 3.5 goals
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina vs San Marino prediction: 3-1

San Marino team news

San Marino head coach Roberto Cevoli will continue to trust his young side, meaning Nicola Nanni, Filippo Berardi and Andrea Contadini — all aged under 29 — will start up front.

There is uncertainty over who will be selected as goalkeeper, as Pietro Amici and Edoardo Colombo have both played in the two qualifiers so far.
