San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Prediction
Dejounte Murray had his best game since New Year's Eve against the Los Angeles Lakers, as the San Antonio Spurs (14-10) held off a spirited late effort from Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors to win 105-100 overnight.
How will they fare in the second of a back-to-back against them here? Read my basketball preview, for the best betting odds ahead of this compelling H2H matchup.
San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Preview
Curry scored ten straight points for the Warriors, cutting the Spurs lead down to one with 37.8 seconds left on the clock. After a timeout, Murray made his second three of the game in clutch time, four-time All-Star teammate DeMar DeRozan iced the game at the free-throw line, and Draymond Green's questionable late sequence helped San Antonio secure a third straight win.
Murray had 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and four assists as he led the Spurs' offensive charge. Curry had 32 points with a game-high six threes while Kelly Oubre Jr added 24 for Golden State, left without injured centres, James Wiseman and Kevon Looney. Post-game, Oubre's comments were short but sweet and suggests they'll look to execute better tomorrow.
"It was an up-and-down game, they made some changes, I feel we didn't adjust to them very well."
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich praised his players for competing all night long and ultimately finding a way to win, typified by Green's frantic sequence on a night where his audacious three-point attempt would've helped him to a triple-double (seven points, 10 rebs and 10 assists).
Andrew Wiggins had 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting, while their bench mostly struggled. Even with their aforementioned injuries, can the Warriors players collectively step up those shooting numbers besides Curry?
San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Betting Tips
Just like yesterday, ESPN's BPI is favouring a Warriors win here (58.4%) as Curry and co hope to split the two-game series and earn a 2-1 H2H regular-season record against a tricky test out West.
Spurs to have injuries of their own with Aldridge (hip flexor soreness) still sidelined, while they struggled with shooting from deep (35.5%) but had half the Warriors' turnover count (10).
Again it's a tricky encounter to predict confidently, but I'm expecting San Antonio to do the double against their visitors here - fourth-year guard Derrick White was 1-of-11 last night!
