Trabzonspor return to Turkey with  one foot in the next phase of the Europa League qualifiers after a well-earned 2:0 win in Slovakia last week.

Boasting an excellent home record last season, which saw them win their final four matches, with an impressive 14 goals scored, Abdullah Avcı´s side will be expected to finish the job against their Slovak opponents on Thursday. 

The Turkish hosts have been reliable at Papara Park over a longer period, scoring eight wins from their last ten home fixtures.  Trabzon also won their last three home Europa League games played in 2022.

Having enjoyed a free weekend with the Turkish season yet to kick-off, a fresh home side should have little difficulty in seeing-off a Ruzomberok side that have struggled since the resumption of their campaign.

The Slovaks make the trip to Turkey after picking up a 1:1 draw against Dukla Banská Bystrica on Saturday. Led by Czech boss Ondřej Smetana, Ruzomberok have failed to win 11 of their last 13 matches played since the end of May. 

Competing in the Europa League qualifiers for the first-time since 2020, Smetana´s side lost each of their last four road matches in this competition over the past seven years. Historically, the Slovaks have won just one of nine previous UEL ties since 2001.

Considering Trabzonspor´s superb home form, and Ruzumberok´s historical struggles in this tournament, I'm confidently backing the hosts to win on Thursday. We can also expect at least three goals scored - Trabzonspor saw over 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last 12 home victories.
