St Pauli will be looking to keep alive their hopes of playing back to back Bundesliga campaigns for the first time since 1997 when they host Union Berlin on Sunday afternoon.
After 13 successive seasons in the second tier, St Pauli were promoted to the top flight through the play-offs last year, but they look to be on their way back. The hosts sit just two places above the bottom three and hold a mere three-point advantage. However, Alexander Blessin's side will go into Sunday's game full of confidence after ending a three-match winless streak with a 2:0 victory at Heidenheim last Saturday.
Union Berlin are also having a difficult German top flight campaign. The Iron One are just three places above the bottom three, which is surprising for a team that finished fourth in this division two seasons ago. Steffen Baumgart's men hosted Mainz last weekend and were looking to end an eleven-game winless streak in all competitions. The mission was accomplished as they beat Die Nullfünfer 2:1 thanks to goals from Benedict Hollerbach and Robert Skov.
St Pauli vs Union Berlin Betting Tips: Union Berlin & Under 2.5 goals
The win over Heidenheim last time out will certainly boost the visitors' confidence ahead of this weekend's clash and the Iron Ones also won each of their last two meetings with St Pauli.
St Pauli may not have kept a clean sheet in their last four games, but the Neighbourhood Kickers are not conceding too many goals. They conceded under one goal in each of their last five matches, and the same number of games finished with less than 2.5 goals scored.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- St Pauli vs FC Union Berlin prediction: 0-2
