Following a blistering start to the season, Paris Saint-Germain will aim to dazzle their home fans when they take on Montpellier at Parc des Princes in their second Ligue 1 matchday.

At first glance, it appears that the departure of star player Kylian Mbappe hasn't dented Parisian ambitions, as demonstrated in their top-flight season opener where they cruised to a 4-1 victory away at Le Havre, with all four goals coming from different players.
Recent results at Parc des Princes offer little cause for celebration as Luis Enrique's side have grabbed just one triumph from their previous six home matches in all tournaments, while haven't tasted a home win since April 21 (D1 L2).
However, if there is any team that has been a regular customer of the current Ligue 1 champions, it is certainly Montpellier, as PSG have been victorious in all but one of the last 10 head-to-heads, averaging four goals per match (a total of 21) in the last five.
Preseason struggles were manifested in a sluggish start to the new league campaign for the Occitanian club, as they fought hard to earn a point on matchday one against Strasbourg on their own turf, salvaging a draw with Teji Savanier’s precise penalty kick.
Surprisingly, Montpellier have been much more successful on the road than at home recently, as they can boast of remaining unbeaten in six straight Ligue 1 away matches (W4 D2), but hopes of continuing their positive away run seem slim, as they have returned empty-handed from each of their last eight visits to Parc des Princes, conceding an alarming 30 goals in the process.
While La Paillade may manage to put the ball in the net during Friday’s contest, they are unlikely to secure any points as we expect an attack-minded PSG to execute their plan efficiently in what should be a high-scoring affair. Even without Mbappe, the Parisians seem relentless in front of goal and we see them deal a big blow to Montpellier's defensive department once again.

PSG will be without Goncalo Ramos until mid-November, as the Portuguese striker suffered a severe ankle injury just 20 minutes into the opening match of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season.
