FAQ

? Where can I buy tickets for the Championship?

The internet is the best place to buy tickets. A simple “EFL Championship tickets” query will bring you a whole variety of ticket sellers like Stubhub or Seatpick that will give you options to buy a ticket for your favourite game (assuming that these tickets are still available). Regretfully, EFL itself doesn’t bother with direct selling.

? How many matches are in the Championship?

46 matches. Every team plays twice against the other teams, once on their own field (‘home’) and once on the opponents’ field (‘away’), which makes for 46 games throughout the championship.

? Why is it called Sky Bet Championship?

In 2013, UK-based bookmaker Sky Bet made a power move signing a sponsorship contract with the EFL championship, so now the championship is called by the name of its sponsor.

? What's the point of the Championship?

It is a gateway tournament of sorts. At the end of each season, the top two teams are promoted into the Premier League by default. Teams 3 to 6 hold a mini-tournament with the winner joining the top two in their promotion. Three teams with the lowest amount of points are relegated into League One.
