Last season, Shkendija won their fifth North Macedonian league title. However, the team from Tetovo never played in the group phase of any European competition, so they hope to change that this year. After a solid preseason, Shkendija had the first round of the Champions League qualifications against the Welsh TNS, in which they needed extra time to seal a 2-1 victory. Shkendija was a slightly better team, especially in the game in North Macedonia, but their problems in converting goal-scoring chances were more than obvious.
Last season, FCSB won their second consecutive title in Romania. Although the former European champions started the season with a Super Cup title, they failed to impress in the Champions League qualifications, as they won only 4-3 on aggregate score against Andorran Inter Escaldes. On Saturday, they returned to the right track with a 1-0 win on the road against Petrolul. Although FCSB won, that match could have gone either way as the home team also deserved to score at least once.
Shkendija vs FCSB pick: Under 2.5 goals
Both teams have some offensive issues. Shkendija scored five goals in six matches this summer, while FCSB scored only three in their previous three games. We shouldn't expect more than two goals in the upcoming match in Skopje.
Shkendija team news
After Shkendija won after extra time against TNS, the head coach Jeton Bekjiri already talked about the upcoming tie against FCSB. He said, "I think it will be easier for us to play against such an opponent than it was against TNS. We are the champions of Macedonia, and we will do everything we can to show the best football on the international stage."

FCSB team news
FCSB won on Saturday against Petrolul, and the head coach, Elias Charalambous, was clear about how important the victory was. He said, "That was the goal, to get 3 points. We had some problems in the first half, but in the second half, we brought more speed to the game. We could have scored more goals; we had chances. We got the 3 points, it's very important to start winning matches in the championship."
