Senegal vs Nigeria prediction 05.08.2025 | African Nations Championship

In the previous tournament, Senegal won their only African Nations Championship title in 2022, when they beat Algeria in the final. The Lions of Teranga played well in most of 2025, but in the last few weeks, during preparations for the African Nations Championship, Souleymane Diallo's team won only one of the previous four games. In the last test, Senegal lost 2-1 against Tanzania. 

Although Senegal didn't play at the best level in the previous weeks, the head coach Souleymane Diallo is confident in success. He said, "For me, right now, there's no more pressure. We will come to approach this competition in the best possible way, while not hiding our coat as African champions. On the contrary, this awareness of our African champion mantle pushes us to have a much more cautious approach, a much more serene approach."

Nigeria never won the African Nations Championship. Their best performance was in 2018 when the Super Eagles lost in the final. Nigeria didn't lose in 2025, but most matches ended with a draw, including two draws against Zanzibar in the last two tests before the tournament started. 

Nigeria have a very interesting team. Their captain, Nduka Junior, who plays for Remo Stars, already debuted for the national team and scored a goal. Another player worth mentioning is winger Anas Yussuf, who scored 18 goals in 34 league matches for Nasarawa last season.
