RFS team overview
Last year was great for RFS. Besides winning the double title, they reached the European League Group stage. This year, they are once again among the two best teams in the country, currently sitting at 2nd place with 61 points in 25 rounds, just three away from the top spot. In the Champions League Qualifiers, RFS opened with a win in a duel against Levadia but were stopped by Malmo on a 5:1 aggregate. Now, in the third round of the EL Qualifiers, RFS are the slight favorite by the bookies, offering odds around 1.7 to reach the next stage.
For the KuPS duel, the team will be without one of their best players, Janis Ikaunieks, who received a red card in the previous EL Qualifiers game vs Malmo.

KuPS team overview
KuPS have been among the best teams in Finland for several years now. But like RFS, the last season was their best ever, winning the double - their first ever. This year, after a fairly slow start, KuPS are now in good form and have climbed to 3rd place in Veikkausliiga - only three points away from the top spot, although with a game played more. In the Champions League Qualifiers, they eliminated Milsami, but were stopped by Kairat Almaty. Unlike their opponents, KuPS have never reached the group stage of any European competition. In fact, in 18 years in Europe Qualifiers, they only once reached the Playoff round - back in 2021/22, when Cluj eliminated them 3:1.
A significant problem for coach Jarkko Wiss is the injury to Agon Sadiku. The 22-year-old forward is not one of their key players, but is an important piece of rotation and their second-best goalscorer. The young Sadiku suffered an injury in the previous game against Haka and had to leave the field after only 27 minutes.

Prediction
RFS have been really good this season, winning 77% (24 out of 31) of their games. And they have scored at least a goal in an incredible 90% of their games. Also, at home, they scored at least a goal in 13 out of 14 games in all competitions, including both games in the Champions League Qualifiers against Malmo and Levadia. So, it is fair to expect a goal vs KuPS as well.
KuPS haven't been as great offensively throughout the season, but they are still doing a decent job. In the last ten matches, they managed to score at least once on eight occasions - 80%. We firmly believe they are capable of scoring at least once against the Latvians, who haven't had a clean sheet in the last four matches.
Considering all the above, we believe that both teams to score bet is the safest option for this EL Qualifiers tie.
3 Reasons why we should see both teams scoring
- RFS scored in 13 out of 14 home games
- RFS failed to keep a clean sheet in the last four games
- KuPS scored in eight out of the last ten matches across the competitions
