Real Madrid will be looking to get back to winning form in La Liga when they entertain Valladolid on Sunday.

After a disappointing 1:1 draw at Mallorca last weekend,  Real Madrid will be desperate for a return to winning ways when they host Valladolid at the Bernabeu.

Boasting a dominant record in this fixture, Real have claimed victories in seven of their last eight matches against the visitors, including a thumping 6:0 victory in their most recent encounter in 2023.

Of course, Real will have been hugely frustrated to pick up only a point in their first fixture of the Season at Mallorca last weekend. In Kylian Mbappe´s La Liga debut, Los Merengues  struggled to reach top form, and a much improved display will be required on Sunday.

Carlo Ancelotti´s side have maintained a superb winning record in home matches over the past year and a half. Real won 20 and drew four of their last 24 home games played since April 2023.

Valladolid Make the trip to Madrid having begun their season with an excellent 1:0 victory against Espanyol last weekend. However, The visitors tend to struggle when going on their La Liga travels. 

Returning to the top flight after a one-year absence, Valladolid  will need to improve on a poor away record which saw them lose 11 of their last 15 away matches in this division. While buoyed by last weekend´s opening day victory, it's hard to see them taking anything from this weekend's trip to Spain´s capital.

Ultimately, I expect a big response from the champions, so I'm backing Real Madrid to win with a minimum of three goals scored at the Bernabeu.
