Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to keep alive their hopes of adding another trophy to their cabinet when they begin their Group B Club World Cup campaign against Atlético Madrid this weekend.

PSG reaffirmed their domestic dominance through winning the French top flight for the fourth season in a row. Luis Enrique and Co also won the French Cup and then put the icing on the cake with a commanding 5:0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final two weeks ago. They will be hoping to maintain this form in the Club World Cup, but their campaign begins with a challenging match against Atlético, whom they lost to in November during the Champions League group stage.

Atlético Madrid were far from their 2020–21 form when they finished above Real Madrid and Barcelona to win La Liga. Los Colchoneros finished third for the third time in four seasons, but Simeone will be pleased that his team ended the campaign in good form, winning their two end-of-season matches 8–1 on aggregate.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

If PSG start their Club World Cup campaign in the same way that they finished the 2024–25 season, we are going to see plenty of goals this weekend. Les Parisians scored at least three goals in each of their last four matches and all but one of those fixtures produced fewer than four goals.

Atlético also ended their campaign with some very entertaining matches. Three of Simeone’s men's last four games ended with four or more goals, and I expect a similar outcome this weekend.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
  • Paris Saint-Germain vs Atletico Madrid prediction: 4-2

Paris Saint-Germain team news

PSG will have to do without Ballon d'Or favourite Ousmane Dembélé this weekend due to injury.

The former Barcelona player sustained a thigh injury during France’s defeat to Spain in the Nations League semi-final, and is expected to be out of action for a few weeks.

Gonçalo Ramos is likely to lead the line alongside Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Vitinha is set to take centre stage in midfield.
