After goalless draws for both teams in the first round, Brazilian Palmeiras and Egyptian Al Ahly will face off against each other at MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ).

Palmeiras are one of the greatest Brazilian teams. They won the domestic title in 2022 and 2023 but earned their spot in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament through winning the Copa Libertadores in 2021. Last year, they were close to securing their third consecutive Serie A title but slipped in the final games and ultimately finished second. This year, the Big Green started well as they are again among the top teams in Serie A - just two points away from the top spot. However, their performance in the Copa Libertadores has been particularly impressive, considering they won all six matches and advanced easily to the knockout phase.

Al Ahly is the greatest Egyptian team, and also the best team in Africa over the last several years. They managed to win the CAF Champions League title on four occasions in the previous nine years. This year, the popular Red Giant won another title in Egypt, their 45th in 118-year-old history. However, they failed to win another CAF Champions League title, as Mamelodi Sundowns eliminated them in the Semifinals after a penalty shootout. Still, the success in earlier years in the CAF CL secured them a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Palmeiras vs Al Ahly pick: Under 2.5 goals

In the first game, Palmeiras drew 0:0 against Porto. Interestingly, Palmeiras dominated the match and had a lot more chances to score. However, they weren't clinical and eventually finished the game without scoring a goal despite having a very high xG - 2.08! These teams met in the 2021 and 2022 FIFA Club World Cups, with both matches ending under 2.5 goals. Considering the trend in the head-to-head games, the results from the first round of the tournament, and everything above, an under 2.5 goals bet seems like the best option for the upcoming tie.
