Nice vs Benfica prediction 06.08.2025 | Champions League Qualifiers

For the previous two seasons, Nice finished fifth and fourth in the French Ligue 1. In the previous one, the Eaglets were super close to securing third place in Ligue 1 and the Champions League Group phase for the first time ever. However, they missed it by one point and will now have to acquire the CL appearance through the Qualifiers. 

During the pre-season, the Eaglets did very well, winning four out of six games (67%). However, looking at their transfer activity, we believe they haven't improved compared to the last season. Therefore, the bookies do not trust them in this duel against Benfica, offering odds between 3.0 and 3.5 for reaching the next phase of the Qualifiers. 

Benfica, a 38-time Portuguese league winner, failed to win a trophy last year. The Eagles were just two points away from winning the title, and have also lost in the Taca de Portugal Finals to Sporting CP. 

They were active during the pre-season, but we believe they made a really good team again. They proved that with fantastic FIFA Club World Cup performances, reaching the knockout phase. They were eliminated by the eventual champs, Chelsea, but did great in that match as well. Following a success in the FIFA Club World Cup, Benfica did great in the Super Cup, winning the trophy with a 1:0 victory over Sporting CP. The Eagles are entering the CL Qualifiers on a positive note, but it remains to be seen whether the lack of rest in the offseason will have a negative impact on Benfica players.
