Montenegro will be looking to secure their fourth consecutive home win when they host Armenia for a friendly on Thursday evening.

The hosts suffered a huge setback to their hopes of qualifying for their first ever World Cup when they played the Czech Republic in Plzeň on Friday night.  Prosinečki’s team had won their previous two matches, beating Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands 4–1 on aggregate and were tipped by many to secure at least a draw. However, the Brave Falcons conceded two goals without responding, and will surely view Monday's game as an opportunity to prepare for their next fixtures in September.

Meanwhile, Armenia have also played two World Cup qualifiers but are still without a win. They began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Wales in November 2023, before narrowly losing 1-0 to Croatia. This poor run of form continued in the Nations League, where they lost 9–1 on aggregate to Georgia in the play-offs and in their last friendly match against Kosowo which they last 5-2 last Friday.

Montenegro vs Armenia Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

The only area in which Montenegro could be criticised in their recent encounters is their defence, with the hosts achieving only one clean sheet in their last eleven games across all competitions. More than half of their six home games in that period produced three or more goals.

Armenia have also been very poor defensively over the last couple of months and boast only one clean sheet in their last 30 games in all competitions. The last four games have all produced more than three goals, and I expect that run to continue on Monday.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
  • Montenegro vs Armenia prediction: 3-1

Montenegro team news

Montenegro head coach Robert Prosinečki is expected to make wholesale changes to the side that was on the pitch from kick-off in the defeat to Czechia last time out.

Having featured only as substitutes in that encounter, the likes of Stefan Lončar, Milutin Osmajić and Stefan Mugoša are among those who could benefit from this reshuffle.

Armenia team news

Eduard Spertsyan was prolific for Krasnodar during the Egyptian Premier League campaign, registering 11 goals and 6 assists in 26 games.

The 25-year-old is responsible for two of the three goals the Collective team scored over the course of their last two fixtures, so he may keep his place in the XI on Monday.

Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game

  1. 9 of the last 12 games of Armenia produced 3+ goals.
  2. Montenegro kept just one clean sheet in their last six home matches.
  3. Exactly 5 goals were seen in two of the last three meetings between Montenegro and Armenia.
