Huddersfield vs Leicester prediction 13.08.2025 | EFL Cup

Only six years ago, Huddersfield were part of the Premier League, but now, they are playing in League One, the third level of the English football system. The team from John Smith's Stadium should be one of the best teams in the league and should have a good chance of promotion and returning to the Championship. 

After a solid preseason, Huddersfield started the season with two excellent wins. In the opening round, they won 3-0 against Leyton Orient, while last weekend, Lee Grant's team won 2-0 on the road against Reading. Huddersfield were impressive in both games, and the confidence at John Smith's Stadium should be sky-high right now. 

Huddersfield have big problems with injuries. They will be without Rhys Henley, Marcus Harness, Anthony Evans, Leo Castledine, Jacob Chapman, Marcus McGuane, and Murray Wallace on Wednesday against Leicester. 

After only one season, Leicester returned to the Championship. However, they should be among the best teams in one of the most exciting leagues in Europe and could bounce back to the strongest English competition. Leicester had an impressive preseason with five wins from six matches. Last weekend, Marti Cifuentes' team won 2-1 at home against Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship opening round. Although Leicester had 75% ball possession and 20 shots on goal more than the opponent, the Foxes almost dropped the points due to their inefficiency. Luckily, Wout Faes scored late in the second half and Leicester secured all three points. 

21-year-old Bilal El Khannouss started the season with two assists in the victory against Sheffield Wednesday, but the attacking midfielder is likely to leave Leicester in the coming weeks. According to the English media, Tottenham, Leeds, West Ham, and Crystal Palace are interested in the youngster. 

Harry Souttar, Ricardo Pereira, Victor Kristiansen, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid are unavailable for the upcoming EFL Clash at the John Smith's Stadium.
