Girona vs Rayo Vallecano prediction 15.08.2025 | La Liga

After a historic 2023/24 season and third position, the last year was terrible for Girona as they ended with only one point more than the relegation zone. Realistically, it is tough to expect Girona to return among the best La Liga teams, but they should have the quality for a mid-table position. Girona's preseason was solid with a 3-1-2 record. In the previous game, they lost 3-2 against Napoli. 

Girona didn't change their squad too much this summer. Most important players didn't leave the team, while they added a few interesting players. The most important signing is Vitor Reis, a 19-year-old center back, who came on loan from Manchester City. Important additions are also Thomas Lemar (Atletico Madrid) and Hugo Rincon (Athletic Bilbao). The transfer window is surely far from over for Girona, especially if rumors are correct that the club will sell one of the best players from the last season, left-back Miguel Gutierrez, to Napoli. 

Rayo Vallecano were surprisingly excellent last season. They ended eighth on the table and secured a place in the Conference League. However, they remained one of the teams with the lowest budget in La Liga, and it is hard to imagine Los Franjirrojos repeating the success from the previous season. Rayo Vallecano had a good preseason with two wins, one draw, and one defeat. In the last test, Rayo Vallecano won 3-0 against Sunderland. 

Rayo Vallecano didn't change the team much this summer. The big news for the fans was that goalkeeper Augusto Batalla, one of the best players from the previous year, signed a permanent deal after one year of loan from River Plate. The only real addition so far in this transfer window is Luiz Felipe, who came from Marseille. The defender played only four games in Ligue 1, and now will try to return his career to the right track in Rayo Vallecano.
