Europa League
In the first leg, just a week ago, Club Brugge won 1:0 in a close match, but Club Brugge still demonstrated they are a slightly better team overall. Before the last h2h game, these teams met in the Europa League 1/16 Finals in 2019. Both teams won their home games, but Salzburg eventually secured the next stage (5:2 aggregate).
Club Brugge team overview
Club Brugge, one of Belgium's most successful clubs and 19-time Jupiler Pro League champions, fell just short of another league title last season, finishing second, three points off the top. However, they saved the season somewhat by winning the domestic Cup. They also did fine in the Champions League, securing the knockout phase, where they managed to eliminate Atalanta before being stopped by Aston Villa.
This season, their objectives remain the same: win domestic trophies, qualify for the Champions League group stage, and make a deep run in Europe. The current season started very well for the Blue-Black as they secured the Super Cup title, did well in the first few games in the domestic league and also won the first leg over Salzburg in the first leg. They are definitely on good momentum, but must secure a positive result.

Salzburg team overview
After winning 12 league titles between 2010 and 2023, Salzburg have now finished second in back-to-back seasons. Generally speaking, we believe that Salzburg got worse (short-term) during the offseason as they added a large number of talented players but sold some key players like Samson Baidoo, Oscar Gloukh, Amar Dedic, etc.
During the offseason, the Austrians haven't had time to rest as they played in the FIFA World Cup, where they failed to come out of the Group with Real Madrid, Al Hilal, and Pachuca. This year, "The Red Bulls" opened the season OK in the domestic competitions, and in the CL Qualifiers, eliminating Brann (5:2). Still, this second leg against Club Brugge is critical, as Salzburg have been regular participants in the Champions League group stage for several years in a row.

Prediction
In the first leg, we saw a pretty equal game, but Club Brugge eventually secured a much-needed victory away from home. Securing that win was crucial for them, as they showed they are a team that can deal with excellent teams at home. Last year, they only lost twice in six home Champions League games against fantastic competition. At home, they managed to beat some great teams like Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon, and Atalanta.
Also, we believe there is a slight difference in form, in Club Brugge's favor. The Blue-Black won four out of five matches, while Salzburg won "only" three out of six across the competitions.
Considering all the above, we believe the hosts are closer to winning the upcoming Champions League Qualifiers tie.
3 Reasons why Club Brugge should win
- Club Brugge won the first leg 1:0 in Austria
- Club Brugge won four out of five games across the competitions
- Salzburg won only three out of six games this season across the competitions
