Burnley played in the Premier League last season and, as expected, are playing a major role in the Championship in the 2024/25 season. After 18 league rounds, Burnley are second on the table with only two points fewer than the league leader, Sheffield United. Scott Parker's team are in a fantastic run of four wins in a row. Last weekend, they won 2-0 on the road against Stoke. The teams had similar ball possession and number of shots on the goal, but Burnley's xG was much higher, so they deserved another victory that would keep them in pace with the league leader. 

Middlesbrough are trying to return to the Premier League since 2017. They are playing well in the current season, as Michael Carrick's team is in the playoff zone. Middlesbrough are in phenomenal form, too, as they won four of the last five matches. In the previous game, they won 3-1 at home against Hull. Middlesbrough were a better side throughout the match, so they secured another victory that propelled them further on the table. Now, Middlesbrough have one of the biggest challenges of the season as they are traveling to Turf Moor stadium, where Burnley are unbeaten in eight rounds.

Burnley have by far the best defense in the competition with only six allowed goals in 18 matches. On the other hand, Middlesbrough conceded at least one goal in each of the previous seven games. Burnley seems to be a better side, so they should win on Friday night against Middlesbrough.
