After a 2:0 for Benfica over Nice in France in the first leg of the third round Champions League Qualifiers, the second leg will take place at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. Due to a two-goal advantage from the first leg and the fact that the game will be played at Benfica's pitch, the bookies do not give too much chance to Nica, offering odds of up to 24 for them securing the next phase of the Qualifiers.

Club Friendlies 3
In the first leg, Benfica were clearly a better team, winning 2:0. Besides that game a week ago, these teams met two more times, both in friendly matches. The Portuguese team was better in those matches as well, winning 3:0 and 2:1.
Benfica team overview
Benfica, a 38-time Portuguese title winner, were close to winning another title, but eventually failed to do so by two points. They also came super close to winning the Cup title, but a penalty in the stoppage time for Sporting forced them to go to extra time, where they eventually lost 3:1.
During the offseason, the Eagles did not rest too much as they competed in the FIFA Club World Cup and did very well there. They were eliminated in the 1/8 Finals by the eventual champs, Chelsea, in a thrilling match. After a rather successful campaign, the Eagles continued with great performances, securing the Super Cup and winning the first leg against Nice. They are definitely in excellent momentum and have every reason to be optimistic about the upcoming game.

Nice team overview
Nice had a very good last season, finishing fourth in Ligue 1, which is their best placement since the 2016/17 season when they finished third. On the other hand, the Eaglets were absolutely terrible in the Europa League, winning only three points in eight rounds and eventually ending up in 35th place (out of 36 teams).
The Eaglets are a team that has never played in the Champions League Group Phase, and it doesn't seem like this will be the year when they finally change that.

Prediction
Benfica are in excellent form. They haven't lost in seven games in all competitions (FIFA Club World Cup, friendly match, Super Cup, and the CL Qualifier). Those were all matches against excellent teams, and the Eagles did very well. So, it seems that the lack of rest (because of the FIFA Club World Cup) did not bother them, far from it.
Last season, the lack of European games really hurt Nice. They were simply atrocious in the EL, and it doesn't seem likely that something will change after a poor first leg vs Benfica.
In the first leg, Benfica easily defeated Nice 2:0. Looking only at the stats, we could say that it was a fairly close match, but after watching the game, the quality difference is noticeable. Eventually, a 2:0 win was totally deserved in our opinion. Now, the Eaglets will have to open up, and that could easily backfire on them against the strong Benfica squad.
Considering the trend in the previous h2h games, along with all the above, we expect another comfortable win for Benfica.
3 Reasons why Benfica should win and cover the -1 AH spread
- Benfica won the first leg in France 2:0
- Benfica won all three h2h games
- Benfica haven't lost in the last seven games across the competition (in regular time)
