Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs Preview

DeMar DeRozan had 37 - one point shy of his season-high - as the Spurs outlasted the Washington Wizards 146-143 in overtime overnight, ending their eight-game winning streak.

Dejounte Murray had 25 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, while Keldon Johnson and Rudy Gay combined for 38 points to help Gregg Popovich's men win their third on the bounce.

Bradley Beal had 45 points, Russell Westbrook recorded another triple-double (22 pts, 14 ast, 13 rebs), but both were scoreless from deep (0-of-7) as Washington couldn't consolidate a 115-108 lead midway through the fourth.

Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs Betting Tips

San Antonio's chances do not convince ESPN of a third straight road win here (26.8%), which is slightly surprising considering Miami's inconsistencies this season. However, they allow three fewer points (107.6), average more assists and blocks per game than their upcoming visitors while boasting stronger depth on paper.

It didn't help that three of those players were all sidelined: Tyler Herro (foot), Andre Iguodala (hip) and Kendrick Nunn (elbow), so they missed their aforementioned defeat by Chicago.

Two-time All-Star guard Victor Oladipo (knee) has only played four games since being traded by Houston at the deadline, with questions continue to intensify on whether he'll be playing major minutes between now and what they hope is another deep postseason run come playoff time.

Considering they're in contrasting conferences, San Antonio (31-29) need to win this game more by comparison - ninth in the West and seeding means plenty as far as their playoff aspirations are concerned.

Miami should win, provided they shoot better than a paltry 19.4% from three-point range as recorded against the Bulls - head coach Eric Spoelstra needs better production from his bench, as well as an inconsistent backcourt.

Key Facts:

  • Miami recorded just six turnovers, to Chicago's 18 overnight – their lowest tally of the month.
  • Bam Adebayo has recorded 22 games with 20+ points this term and led in scoring during the reverse the matchup, a 107-87 win last week (April 22)
  • San Antonio is 13-4 when outrebounding opponents and averages 44.1 rebounds per game.
