On Sunday afternoon, two out-of-form teams, Napoli and Fiorentina, will face off in the 28th round of Serie A at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples.

After winning their third Scudetto in the 2022/23 season, Napoli had a disastrous last season, finishing 10th and failing to secure Europe. As they focused only on the domestic competitions, they were fantastic in Serie A once again. Right now, they are 2nd with 57 points from 27 matches, only one point away from the first-placed Inter. However, Napoli had a terrible period lately as they had four draws and one loss in the last five. Luckily, Inter also lost some games and did not make a big difference in the league's table.

Fiorentina have been seventh and eighth (twice) in the last three seasons and is in a similar spot this year. Viola are again in 7th place with 45 points in Serie A and also did great in the Conference League. In Serie A, they are only two points away from 6th-placed Bologna and the European spots. Unfortunately, right now, they are in a pretty bad spot as they lost four of the last five games. The previous loss came against Panathinaikos (3:2) in the first leg of the Conference League 1/8 Finals. After the Napoli game, they will face PAO in the second leg, and it will be interesting whether they will decide to rest some key players against Napoli.

As mentioned, Napoli drew four and lost one in the last five games. However, all of their poor performances came away from home. At home, the situation is totally different as they won three and drew two in the last five. Those draws were against excellent teams, Inter and Udinese. To be fair, Napoli deserved wins in both of those matches and with a little more luck, we could easily speak about a five-game winning streak at home.

Fiorentina lost four of the last five games. Even in a match they managed to win (1:0 vs Lecce), Fiorentina were far from impressive. Away from home, Viola have been struggling for some time now, as they only secured two wins over the previous 10 games!

In the previous h2h game at Florence, Napoli dominated 3:0. Considering the previous h2h game, Napoli's fantastic home performances, and Fiorentina's terrible road record in recent games, we firmly believe that Napoli are much closer to winning the upcoming match.
