Europa League qualification action kicks-off in Poland on Thursday as home favourites Legia Warsaw look to build a first-leg advantage against Kazakh opponents Aktobe.

After a fifth-placed finish in the Polish Ekstraklasa, Legia warmed up for Thursday's Europa League qualification contest with a pair of friendly wins in the past ten days. Having claimed a 1:0 win against Jablonec at the end of June, Edward Iordănescu's side scored a fine 5:1 win against Górnik Łęczna in their most recent runout last week.

Aktobe arrives in Poland already sixteen games into their domestic campaign in Kazakhstan. Sitting third in the Kazakh Premier League, the visitors have not been at their best in recent weeks, with defeats suffered in three of six previous fixtures. 

With little previous success at the Europa League level, the Kazakhs could be in for a tough night on Thursday. The visitors sit 276th in the UEFA club ranking - some 206 places behind the home side.

Indeed, despite their inactivity, Legia will be expected to put themselves in the driving seat ahead of next week's trip to Kazakhstan, with the hosts boasting far more experience at this level. I'm backing the Poles to prevail and claim a relatively comfortable win on Thursday.
