A place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League will be at stake when Hamrun Spartans and Zalgiris Vilnius face off in Ta' Qali on Tuesday.
Hamrun secured their place in this competition by winning the Malta Premier League play-off final in the 2023–24 season, while Zalgiris won the Lithuanian top flight last season.
Zalgiris Vilnius were the hosts' last opponents at this ground when they met on Wednesday for the first leg of this fixture. Following a competitive first half which ended goalless, Winston Muscat’s team conceded two goals in the second half without responding. The Spartans have now lost back to back games for the first time since March and will be looking to respond against Zalgiris on Tuesday.
Zalgiris have already started the 2025 A Lyga campaign. The visitors boast six wins from 19 games played so far, with as many defeats but have been hard to beat in recent weeks. Vladimir Cheburin’s team have lost only one of their last eight matches and won the last three.
Hamrun Spartans vs Zalgiris Vilnius Betting Tips: Under 2.5 goals
The Spartans have not kept a clean sheet in their last two matches, but they have conceded few goals in recent weeks. In fact, Muscat’s team has conceded more than one goal in only two of their last eleven games in all competitions. Nine of those matches saw fewer than 2.5 goals, and I expect a similar outcome on Tuesday.
Zalgiris Vilnius have also been very solid in defence recently, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last two matches and shipped fewer than two goals in all but two of their last eight matches.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Hamrun Spartans vs Zalgiris Vilnius prediction: 0-0

Hamrun Spartans team news
Hamrun Spartans head coach Giacomo Modica is expected to make significant changes to the team that started in the 2-0 defeat in the first leg.
Those who came on as substitutes in that game, such as Serigne Saliou Mbacke Thioune and Mouad El Fani, could benefit from this reshuffle.

Zalgiris Vilnius team news
Petar Bosančić has missed Zalgiris's last 31 games due to a cruciate ligament injury, and Tuesday’s game comes too soon for the defender.
The visitors' injury list ahead of Tuesday's clash with Hamrun also includes Nikola Petković, who has been out since July due to a leg problem.
