Both teams from the upcoming tie at Selhurst Park struggled at the start of the season and, for a significant time, were in the relegation zone, but after some brilliant performances, both propelled themself into the mid-table. Currently, Crystal Palace are 13 points above the drop zone, while Everton have three points fewer than their next opponent. 

Crystal Palace are one of the hottest Premier League teams in 2025. They won five of the last six matches in all competitions. In the previous game, Crystal Palace won 2-0 on the road in the FA Cup against Doncaster. The League Two side played surprisingly well, but Crystal Palace showed a difference in classes and secured another victory. 

The 2024/25 season was another in which it looked like Everton could have problems with avoiding relegation. Still, after sacking Sean Dyche and David Moyes's appointment, the team started playing much better. Everton lost only one of the last five matches. In the previous game, they played 2-2 at home against Liverpool. Everton was close to defeat, but James Tarkowski's strike deep into the second half's stoppage time secured one point for Moyes' squad in the city derby.
