Unai Emery completely reformed Aston Villa. Last year, they finished 4th in the Premier League, which was their best finish since the 1995/96 season when they also finished fourth. In the Conference League, they also had a decent run, as they reached the Semi-Finals but were eliminated by Olympiacos. This year, the Villans once again opened the season well in all competitions. They are in 5th place in the Premier League with 13 points in six rounds, just two away from the top spot! When it comes to the Champions League, Emery's squad opened the season with a dominant 3:0 win over Young Boys in Switzerland but will now have a much more difficult job against Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich came to this season after a terrible one last year, considering they failed to win any trophy, which is unacceptable for their standard. This year, the Bavarians started the season much better in all competitions. They hold the top spot in the Bundesliga with 13 points from five games and are also at the top of the Champions League after dismantling Dinamo Zagreb in the first round 9:2. Like almost every year in the recent past, the Bavarians are one of the primary contenders for the CL title. The bookies see them as the third favorite, only behind Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich pick: Over 3.5 goals
Aston Villa are in excellent form, winning five out of the last six games while scoring two or more goals every time. They are a team that plays offensive football, and their ability to score is unquestionable, especially at Villa Park. Last year, they scored 48 goals at home in 19 Premier League rounds, compared to only 28 goals away from it. So, scoring a goal or a couple against pretty much anyone in the world is a completely real scenario.
Bayern Munich have been incredible this year, winning six out of seven games in all competitions. They scored an astonishing number of 34 goals so far - 4.86 per game! Mostly due to a fantastic offense, Bayern Munich were over 3.5 goals in five out of seven games - 71%.
Another big plus for this bet is the fact that these teams haven't been too great defensively. Aston Villa had only one clean sheet in eight games, while Bayern Munich kept their net intact once in the last four matches.
Considering both teams' fantastic offensive displays this year, along with all the above, we expect a high-scoring game, most likely with both teams scoring.
Aston Villa team news
After a 2:2 draw with Ipswich Town, coach Unai Emery spoke to the media. He said that a draw was probably a fair result but reggreted they missed the opportunity to be level with Liverpool at the top. The coach also commented that they will definitely be tired for the Champions League because they play every three or four days, but said they embrace that challenge.
The team should have no new injuries, but the ones who missed the previous games should remain sidelined: Matty Cash, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, and Tyrone Mings.

Bayern Munich team news
After a 1:1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, coach Vincent Kompany spoke to the media. He said it was a good performance from his team and noted they allowed only three goal attempts to Leverkusen while they had 18. "We are constantly improving, and I cannot see a reason why we couldn't win many games this season," the coach added.
In the previous game against Leverkusen, Harry Kane suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the field in the 86th minute. However, according to credible sources, the Englishman has no serious injury and will most likely be ready for Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Josip Stanisic, Daniel Peretz, Arijon Ibrahimovic, Hiroki Ito, Tarek Buchmann, and Sacha Boey should remain sidelined with their injuries.
