St. Patrick's were among the top four teams in Ireland in the last four seasons. In the previous one, they finished third after a magnificent nine-game winning streak. Eventually, they came close to winning the title, concluding the season only four points away from the top spot. This year, after a pretty good start, the results started to decline, and they are now in 6th place with 32 points - six points away from European spots and with two games played more. So, it's a far-from-impressive season thus far.
Hegelmann did great last year, securing second place, but they weren't too close to the top spot as Zalgiris left them 12 points behind. This year, Hegelmann are once again doing a similar job as last year, considering they are in second place but not too close to the top spot. When it comes to Europe, the Lithuanians only had one duel in the Qualifiers in 2023/24 when Shkupi easily eliminated 5:0.
St. Patrick's vs Hegelmann: Under 2.5 goals
St. Patrick's are in terrible form, having failed to win in six consecutive matches. They were atrocious offensively and have scored only one goal in that period! So, it is unreal to expect a dominant offensive display even against Hegelmann at home. A positive thing about this bet is the fact they are doing well defensively. A good defense and poor offense resulted in five games with under 2.5 goals in the last six matches.
Hegelmann had mixed results lately but were fairly good for this type of bet as five of the last nine matches ended with fewer than three goals - 56%. Also, in two European games, they failed to score a goal, and we wouldn't be surprised if they failed to score again.
Considering St. Patrick's bad form, constant low-scoring games, and all the above, an under 2.5 goals bet seems like the best option for this Conference League Qualifiers tie.
St. Patrick`s team news
Winger Jake Mulraney suffered an injury in the previous game against Bohemians and had to leave the field around ten minutes before the end of the game. However, he hasn't been too great this season, and his (potential) absence shouldn't be a massive problem for "The Red Army."
