- Competition: Serie A
- Date: Sunday, 18th May, 2025
- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CEST
- Venue: Stadio Artemio Franchi (Florence)
In the last three years, Fiorentina have been seventh and (twice) eighth in the Serie A while making deep runs in the Conference League. This season, they looked like they could even maybe secure the fourth spot and the Champions League appearance. Unfortunately, in May, they totally collapsed, losing two games in Serie A, and were eliminated from the Conference League Semi-Finals by Real Betis. Now, they are in 9th place with 59 points from 36 matches - four points away from Europe and are under pressure to win these remaining games.
Bologna are coming to these last couple of games after winning the Cup title in the Finals against AC Milan. That Cup title is their first since 1998/99 when they won the Intertoto Cup! So, they already fulfilled their goals as they secured the Europa League at least, but they can still make it to the Champions League, considering they are in 7th place with 62 points - two away from fourth place. After the Fiorentina game, the "Rossoblù" will face off against Genoa.
Fiorentina vs Bologna pick: Fiorentina to (AH 0) win
Fiorentina are in bad form, losing three of the last four games. However, all of their losses came on the road. At home, Viola have been great, keeping an eight-game unbeaten run alive. They had some huge wins at Stadio Artemio Franchi during that stretch of games, beating Juventus (3:0) and Atalanta (1:0). Throughout the season, they were really difficult to beat at their pitch, losing only three times in 18 Serie A games - 17%.
Bologna are also in pretty poor form, winning once in the last four games. Yes, that win was a huge one because it secured them the title (against AC Milan 1:0), but their form is far from good. Also, Bologna haven't been as good away from home this year in Serie A, winning only 40% of their overall points there.
Moreover, Fiorentina won the last two h2h games at Stadio Artemio Franchi. In fact, over the previous 14 h2h games, Bologna only managed to secure one victory!
We expect a close duel, but considering all the above, we believe Fiorentina are a bit closer to winning the upcoming game.

Bologna team news
Right full-back Emil Holm suffered an injury in the previous game against AC Milan in the Cup and had to leave the field after 76 minutes. It was an unfortunate moment for the 25-year-old Swede because he had just recovered from the calf injury, which had kept him off the field in four games before the AC Milan match. Luckily, Bologna have an excellent backup in Davide Calabria or Lorenzo De Silvestri.
Besides Holm, the team should only miss Estanis Pedrola, who missed the previous four games with a thigh injury.
