After a terrific last season when they finished 3rd and secured the Champions League, Brest are getting back where they probably belong - to the middle of the league's table. Right now, the Pirates are in 12th place with just 13 points in 12 rounds, much closer to the relegation spots than Europe. But, on the positive side, they are doing well in the Champions League and are on the right path to securing the next stage of the competition. It seems they lack the depth to compete on multiple fronts, and that is probably the reason why their results in Ligue 1 have been disappointing.

Strasbourg are playing their eighth consecutive season in Ligue 1, where they were mostly in the mid or lower part of the league's table. This season, they are looking like a mid-table team again, as they are occupying 11th place with 13 points in 12 rounds. Unfortunately, they are on a three-game losing streak and will look to snap that poor streak against another out-of-form team and move further away from the danger zone. Even though reaching Europe isn't really their priority, with a few good results, they could reach it, considering they are two wins away from it.

Brest vs Strasbourg pick: Over 2.5 goals

Lately, Brest have played only high-scoring games and were over 2.5 goals in the last four games in all competitions. Their defense completely collapsed, allowing ten goals - 2.5 per game. So, it is unreal to expect a good defensive performance at this moment.

Strasbourg's defense has also been terrible. They allowed two or more goals in five out of the last six matches. On the other hand, they are scoring regularly and managed to do so against good teams like PSG, Monaco, and Nice and should be capable of scoring against struggling Brest.
